Tiring

Although it's only been a four day working week it seems to have been so much longer.  I think it's partially due to running on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights.  Between the three of those I did about 60km and another 6.5km today at parkrun.  Tomorrow I'm hoping to get in another 20 - 25km in the morning before going to church.  It's certainly the most that I've ever run in a single week but I've really enjoyed it.  I am however looking forward to being able to run a bit less in order to have more time to do stuff on the house.

The reason I'm running this much is that I want to have a fairly respectable time in the Great North Run and the Chester Marathon.  In these I'm aiming for sub 2 hours and 4.5 hours respectively.  The former is probably achievable but I'm more worried about the latter.  The running has certainly been helping with my blood sugar levels though, and assisting with loosing some weight, which can only be healthy.  Another reason I run is that it allows me to clear my head - to stop thinking about anything else other than average pace, distance, instantaneous speed, routes, footwork and my body's condition and response.  At the moment these windows of intense concentration on the minute by minute challenges of running distract totally from anything else such as work and home life.

Today was also emotionally tiring.  Niki came over to carry on sorting through stuff, predominantly the books that we have.  It wasn't easy for a number of reasons but it was really good to see her and have a chance to talk a bit.  One of the many things that is so sad about splitting up is the loss of a friend who understood parts of me so very well.
